Friendly Busy Box Page

A Busy Box can be kept on hand should children arrive at a small meeting with no formal religious education program.  For Meetings with an RE program, the Busy Box is useful to help young Friends quietly join Meeting for Worship before or after the lesson.

Friendly Busy Box may include:

  • Children’s books about the inner quiet place, Quaker worship, and other Friendly subjects
  • Coloring mandalas and plain paper (colored pencils or crayons are preferable to markers!)
  • Objects from nature to touch and enjoy
  • Quiet fun activities like Wikki Stix or pipe-cleaners
  • FGC’s Activity Pages

We create a space that gives the unspoken message: We are ready for you.  This place and these materials, simple as they may be, are for you.
