Sharing Circles: How is Religious Education (RE) going in your meeting?

October 20 and 22, 2026

T

HIS MONTH WE WILL GATHER IN TO CHECK IN AND SHARE WITH EACH OTHER AS A COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE. Come ready to describe what is going well in your religious education (RE) programs for children, youth and adults.  Share curricula, books, videos, interactive activities, scripts and other resources that enrich your RE program. We will also tap into the wisdom of the group to address the challenges many of us face such as securing volunteers, staffing, attention from within the community, and inclusion of children in worship.

If you are so led, bring your experiences, resources, questions and challenges into the circle. You are also welcome to simply listen and learn.

QUERIES

    • What ideas have given your RE program depth and strength?

    • What successes have you had with engaging volunteers, staffing, gaining attention within the community, and in including children in worship?

    • What challenges remain and how have you addressed them?

    • What are your experiences with engaging and supporting volunteers? What encourages Friends to volunteer? What keeps Friends from volunteering?

    • What have you done to help adults interact with kids and relax about being right or making mistakes in demonstrating our faith?
